Thursday, Aug. 4

Free Figure Drawing for Adults: 6:30-8 p.m., Mispillion Art League Gallery, 5 N. Walnut St., Milford. Open to all levels of experience. A live (clothed) model will be present. Bring your sketch pad, pencils, charcoal or pastels.  Session will be led by  experienced figure artists.  A $5 donation for the model is suggested.   These open sessions are held the first Thursday of each month.

 

Friday, Aug. 5

St. Paul UMC, Milford Fish, Chicken Dinner Fundraiser: 10 a.m. until sold out, Temple Lodge #8, 610 N. Church Ave., Milford. Dinners are $10 for fried fish and $8 for baked/fried chicken. Sandwiches are $7.50 for fish and $6 for chicken. For more information, call the church at 422-0709.

 

Saturday, Aug. 6

Thrift Store & Produce – free hot dogs: 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., 105 N.E. Front St., Milford – next to Rite-Aid. Free hotdogs will be given away all day. Featuring fresh fruits and vegetables, grocery, furniture used, slightly use clothes, knick knacks, janitorial supplies, and more. For more information, call 249-5738.

Kid’s First Saturday – Zentangles with Claudia Leister: 10-11 a.m. (ages 6-9), and 11:15 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. (ages 10-13), Mispillion Art League, 5 N. Walnut St., Milford. Zentangles is an easy to learn and fun way to create beautiful pictures by drawing patterns.  It can open a door to art and creativity for people of all ages and abilities.  Materials included with class fee. Tuesday, Aug. 9

Delaware Electric Cooperative 80th annual Community Fair and Business Meeting: 3 p.m. dinner and fair, 7 p.m. meeting, Delaware State Fairgrounds, Harrington. Featuring live music, free chicken dinner, utility demonstration and meeting. For more information, visit www.delaware.coop.

30th Representative District Republicans meeting: 6:30 p.m., Stargate Diner, U.S. 13 Harrington. All Republicans in the 30th district, which includes Farmington, Felton, Harrington, Sandtown and Viola areas are invited to attend. Wednesday, Aug. 10

Annual Clothing and School Uniform Giveaway: 4-7 p.m., Felton Viola United Methodist Church. A new school uniform shirt will be given to each Lake Forest student in the family while supplies last.  Used school uniform shirts and pants will also be available in most sizes. Used clothing for men, women, and children will be given away as well. Donations of gently used school uniforms and children’s clothing are still being accepted. Dover/Kent County Metropolitan Planning Organization’s Technical Advisory Committee meeting: 10 a.m., 1783 Friends Way, Camden Town Hall. Long-range and shorter-term transportation plans, plus population projections and air quality funding are on the August agenda. This meeting is open to the public, which is encouraged to attend. USA Dance Dover practice sessions in ballroom and rhythm: 7-8:30 p.m., Camden Wyoming Moose Lodge, 760 Moose Lodge Road, near Wyoming. Practice sessions will feature East Coast Swing and Bachata practice for all levels from 7-8 p.m. From 8-8:30 p.m. music for various dances will be provided. Experienced dancers will be on hand.
