Skating club to present “Frozen” with a twist: tickets on sale now

HARRINGTON – Queen Elsa of Arendelle, her friends and a whole host of other Disney characters will invade Harrington next month. Of course, the invasion will take place at the Centre Ice Rink on the grounds of the Delaware State Fair of 2

During the weekend of May 15, the Bay Country Figure Skating Club will present its spring show, “Frozen: Once Upon a Time.”

The show is based on Disney’s popular animated movie “Frozen” and its Disney universe crossing television show “Once Upon a Time.”

Skating club officials said the plot of the ice show is set around Elsa’s coronation when some uninvited guests, like Ursula the sea witch from “The Little Mermaid,” and Maleficent from “Sleeping Beauty,” among others drop in.

Jerry Santoferrara, figure skating director of the Centre Ice Rink, said the show may have some twists – not referring to some of the performers moves on the ice.

“You’ll just have to come out and see is Elsa gets save,” Mr. Santoferrara said.

The show starts on 6 p.m. on May 15 and continues at 10 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on May 16 at the ice rink in Harrington.

Tickets are $10 for adults, $8 for those 17 years old and younger. Children 2 years old and younger are free. Tickets are available at or at the Centre Ice Rink.

iceice 3The club started preparing for this show shortly after it wrapped up its Christmas performance.

“Frozen: Once Upon a Time” has a cast of about 70 skaters, Mr. Santoferrara said.

The spring show brings skaters of all ages and levels together for a full scale production complete with spotlights and scenery.

“It is a very entertaining family show,” said Figure Skating Coach Tom Harrison. “It has everything on the map.”
