Monday Night Soup Kitchen sponsored by the Church of the Nazarene, held from 7-8 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, Milford.

Community Food Pantry located in Avenue Methodist will be open Monday to Friday 12:30–4 p.m. Referrals only. The pantry is closed the first Thursday of month.

Food Pantry: St. John the Apostle: Monday, Wednesday, Friday from 10 a.m. to noon.

Multi-Cultural Church services

MILFORD — Multi-Cultural Church, located at 105 N.E. Front St. in Milford, announces its service schedule.

Sunday Bible Study is at 10 a.m. Sunday celebration service is at 11:15 a.m.

Avenue UMC schedule

MILFORD — Avenue United Methodist Church, located at 20 N. Church Street in Milford, seeks to be a dynamic faith community growing in hope, love, and service.

  • 9:30 a.m. – adult/children Sunday school;

Houston UMC schedule

HOUSTON — Traditional worship will continue throughout the summer at Houston United Methodist Church, 235 Broad St. in Houston, each Sunday at 9:30 a.m. under the direction of Rev. Helen McFadden.

On Sunday, Aug. 28, Franklin Hendricks from Asbury UM Church in Harrington will be the guest speaker.

The UMWomen will not meet again until September.

The Trustees will meet during the summer as the need arises, but will not have regularly scheduled meetings in August.

The next Family Night will be in October.


Celebration of Prayer for Our Schools set for Aug. 28

GREENWOOD — The National Day of Prayer Task Force Committee for the Greenwood area announces that Celebration of Prayer for Our Schools will be held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 28 at Greenwood United Methodist Church, W. Market and Church Streets, in downtown Greenwood.

The keynote speaker for the event is Pastor Doug Harbaugh of Greenwood UMC – the host church.

Area ministers will offer prayers for our schools for the ensuing year and provide music for the event. There will be a fellowship hour immediately after the service. A free will offering will be taken for the Food for Back Pack Ministry sponsored by Greenwood UMC. Checks may be made payable to: Greenwood UMC and earmarked “Food for Back Packs.”

The public is invited to attend.

HARRINGTON — Pilgrim Chapel, located at 4792 Milford-Harrington Highway in Harrington, announces its weekly schedule.

Reformation Lutheran Church

MILFORD — Reformation Lutheran Church, 613 Lakeview Avenue in Milford, will hold Sunday services at 8:30 a.m. and 11 a.m. with Faith Connections for all ages at 9:45 a.m.

Holy Communion is celebrated at all services.

While children are always welcome in worship, nursery care is provided for young kids all morning.

Faith Connections is an interactive, “no-workbook” time of connecting more deeply with God and with each other, and discovering how faith connects to life. It involves all ages, and includes a Christian parenting group.

Diaper pantry needs support

MILFORD — The Multi-Cultural Church Family and Community Center, 105 N.E. Front St. in Milford now has a diaper pantry Tuesdays from 9-11 a.m. diapers and wipes will be distributed to those in need.

Support is needed from the community to keep the pantry stocked. If you are able to contribute financially to this ministry from your social justice ministry outreaches, or if you could do a diaper drive in your church for the pantry, it would go a long way toward helping the community.
