Delaware State Fair announces 2016 concert lineup

HARRINGTON – Jeff Dunham, George Thorogood and the Destroyers, Little Big Town, King and Country, Sidewalk Prophets, Jordan Feliz, X Ambassadors, Rachel Platten and A Great Big World all have one thing in common: They are coming to the Delaware State Fair in 2016!

The Delaware State Fair has announced its highly anticipated Summer Concert Series Lineup for 2016, including 16 of the hottest music artists around, two wheeled events, a comedian, a rodeo and the traditional Harness Racing at the Fair.

Previously announced acts included world renowned comedian, Jeff Dunham appearing Saturday, July 23 at 8 p.m. and country music legacy, Alabama, who will perform Monday, July 25 at 7:30 p.m.

fairNew in 2016 will be a kick-off concert by country music sensation Jake Owen along with Granger Smith at the M&T Bank Grandstand on Wednesday, July 20 at 7:30 p.m. Jake Owen, known for his thrilling performances and laid-back style of country music, will be the perfect kick-off to the 10-Day fair in Harrington.

Fair basics such as carnival rides, livestock animals, circus performances, food vendors, etc. will not be available during the night of the kick-off concert and gate admission will not be required. Tickets are $31-71.

Delaware State Fair General Manager Bill DiMondi said, “We are excited to offer our enthusiastic patrons another night of country music at this concert-only evening at the Fairgrounds. We hope fans can come enjoy Jake Owen’s extra concert performance here in Harrington as they prepare for Thursday’s start of the 97th Delaware State Fair.”

The 2016 Summer Concert Series continues with the return of the monster trucks with “Monster Truck Meltdown” presented by the Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association on Thursday, July 21 at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $18-20.

The show will include a pit party, monster trucks, ride truck and a tough truck challenge. The Delaware Volunteer Firefighter’s Association invites ticket holders to visit one of the 60+ Fire & EMS Companies after May 1 for a special access ticket. Along with their event ticket, this ticket will give them access to the pit party where fans can come meet and take pictures with the drivers and more. Also on Thursday, July 21, the Quillen Arena Painted Pony PRCA Rodeo will bring the best cowboys and cowgirls around for roping, riding and racing! This show starts at 7 p.m. Tickets are $16, Youth 12 and under are free. Come enjoy the fast-paced agility and athleticism on display as these men and women compete at the 2016 Quillen Arena Rodeo.

On Friday, July 22 at 7 p.m., the M&T Bank Grandstand is the place to see car smashing fun at the Demolition Derby presented by Manlove Auto Parts. Tickets are $16-18. For tickets or more information on how to participate in this year’s derby, visit the Delaware State Fair website.

Little Big Town with Kristian Bush will perform Sunday, July 24 as presented by Delaware Lottery. The Grammy winning group will include country hits like “Girl Crush” and “Day Drinking.” Gates will open at 6:30 p.m.; the show will start at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are $39-79.

King and Country headlines this year with Sidewalk Prophets and Jordan Feliz on Tuesday, July 26 welcomed by 88.7 FM the Bridge. These Christian chart-topping bands will come together for an evening of “Something Different” that will inspire “Beloved” fans to “Run Wild, Live Free and Love Strong.” Tickets are $20-45. The show will start at 7:30 p.m.

Pop artists X Ambassadors, Rachel Platten and A Great Big World join the lineup Wednesday, July 27 at 7 p.m. with knockout songs like “Fight Song,” “Renegades” and “Say Something.” Tickets are $39-79 and can be purchased online at www.delawarestatefair.com.

Harrington Raceway & Casino presents Harness Racing on Thursday, July 28 at 7p.m. Come watch harness racing at no charge and celebrate Governor’s Day at the Fair.

George Thorogood and The Destroyers perform Friday, July 29 at 7:30 p.m. with Fabulous Thunderbirds; tickets are $34-74. George Thorogood and The Destroyers return to Delaware and are certain to be “badder” than ever.

Get ready to close the 2016 Fair with an evening of enjoyable entertainment, a relaxed atmosphere and some delectable brews at our Craft Beer Festival featuring Blues Traveler with Lower Case Blues, Saturday, July 30. Music only Tickets are $25. Craft Beer Tickets are $35. Craft Beer Ticket holders will receive a souvenir cup and 5 beer tasting tickets. Craft Beer Ticket holders must be 21-years-old or older. Gates will open at 5 p.m.
