Harrington man arrested for third DUI

HARRINGTON – Karl V. Bryfogle, 56 of the 300 block of Central Park Drive, was arrested May 29 for a third offense DUI and related charges, according to police.

While on patrol at 9:50 p.m., police responded to a report of property damage accident at the intersection of Messicks Road and Corn Crib Road.  Police arrived to find a pick up truck on its side in a ditch.

They contacted the driver, identified by witnesses who were on scene as Bryfogle.  While speaking to him, police detected a strong odor of alcohol and observed Bryfogle having trouble standing on his own.  He was taken into custody after performing standard field sobriety tests and transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.

Using the intoxilyzer test, police determined that Bryfogle was more than three times the legal limit of .080.

Police charged him with third offense driving under the influence, reckless driving, failure to show proof of insurance and failure to show proof of registration. After being processed, Bryfogle was arraigned at Justice of the Peace Court 3 and was committed to the Sussex Correctional Institute in default of $3,201 secured bond.

Bryfogle had two previous DUI convictions in 1998 and 2002
