Single vehicle crash west of Harrington leaves one dead

HARRINGTON – A Maryland man has died after a single vehicle accident west of Harrington last night.

The Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit is currently investigating the fatal motor vehicle crash that has claimed the life of 43-year-old Ronald W. Geaman, Jr. of Henderson, MD.

The initial investigation has determined the crash occurred at approximately 8:01 p.m. last night, Thursday, Oct. 13 Mr. Geaman was operating a 1994 Chevrolet Camaro along northbound Burrsville Road just north of Parker Road which is west of Harrington.

As the Camaro approached a right curve south of Parker’s Road, the vehicle lost control traveling off the west edge of the roadway. The Camaro started to rotate clockwise and reentered the roadway where he traveled off the east edge of the roadway, striking a utility pole with its left front bumper.

The vehicle then rotated clockwise striking a mailbox and a fence with its rear.  It continued to rotate clockwise striking a tree with its left front bumper and came to rest facing in an easterly direction.

Ronald W. Geaman Jr., who was wearing his seatbelt, was transported from the scene by the Delaware State Police Aviation Unit to the Kent General Hospital in Dover where he died a short time later. The preliminary investigative results revealed that speed was a contributing factor in this collision.

Burrsville Road in the area of the crash was closed for approximately three hours as the crash was investigated and cleared.

This crash remains under investigation by the Delaware State Police Collision Reconstruction Unit.
