HARRINGTON — A Disney Christmas was on parade Friday night in Harrington as clubs, businesses and others walked the streets of downtown to celebrate the beginning of the holiday season.
Organized by Bill Falasco and Faye Smith of the Parks & Recreation Department, the annual parade is a staple for the community.
“It’s a great time to bring the community together,” Mr. Falasco said before the parade, adding that around 75 entries were received.
“When you add Disney next to Christmas, it opens up the door for the imagination to take over. Everyone can relate to Disney,” he added.
Keeping with the theme, characters from Frozen rode through the streets in wintery-wonderland floats while others used Disney’s newly acquired Star Wars as their muse. Mickey and Minnie Mouse sightings were also in no short supply Friday night.
“This is the largest crowd I remember in a long time,” one local resident could be overheard saying during the parade.
Santa Claus offered a nice cap to the event, as is tradition in the small town, while he rode through the parade with Mrs. Claus.
