Harrington man arrested on Drug Charges

HARRINGTON – On April 12 the Harrington Police Department arrested Michael G. Carter, 21, of the 5800 Block of Whiteleysburg Road, Harrington after police stopped his vehicle on South DuPont Highway for a traffic violation.

According to Lt. Earl Brode, as the vehicle was pulling over police observed one of the occupants of the vehicle threw an object out the window. After the vehicle stopped, police located the item and found it to be a paper towel wrapped around three bags of heroin. During the traffic stop the three occupants of the vehicle were detained and during the course of the investigation police determined that Mr. Carter, who was a passenger in the vehicle is the one who threw the drugs out the window.

He was taken into custody without incident.  The driver of the vehicle was issued a traffic summons for expired registration and released. The other passenger was not charged and released.  Mr. Carter was transported to the Harrington Police Department for processing.  He was charged with possess or consume a controlled or counterfeit substance, hindering prosecution and possession of drug paraphernalia.  He was arraigned via video phone at Justice of the Peace Court 7 and was released on $1,000 unsecured bond.
