Magnolia woman arrested after leaving her child at restaurant for several hours

HARRINGTON – On April 1, the Harrington Police Department arrested Tammy L. Edgar, 34, of the 200 Block of Lambert Drive in Magnolia after she left her son at a McDonalds alone for several hours.

According to Lt. Earl K. Brode, officers were called to the McDonalds on South DuPont Highway after employees saw a 13-year-old child inside the restaurant for several hours by himself.  When police arrived and contacted the child they determined that Ms. Edgar allegedly dropped the child off at the McDonalds and then when to the Harrington Raceway and Casino.

Officers went to the casino and were able to locate Ms. Edgar after officers saw her trying to leave out a side door. She was taken into custody and transported to the Harrington Police Department. The child was uninjured and turned over to other family members.

Police issued a criminal summons to Ms. Edgar charging her with endangering the welfare of a child. She was released pending a court appearance.
