Troopers arrest a Felton man after a two hour stand-off

FELTON – The Delaware State Police have taken a 41-year-old man into custody following a two hour stand-off which occurred this afternoon, June 15, in Felton.

The incident began at approximately 1:03 p.m., on Monday, June 15, when the Delaware State Police responded to the residence of the unit block of Crestwood Drive Felton in an attempt to execute numerous warrants on Dennell D. Harrison, who is currently wanted.

Troopers attempted to make contact with the occupants of the residence at which time Mr. Harrison allegedly barricaded himself inside the residence and refused to comply with numerous commands to exit the residence. There was also a 27-year-old female as well as three children inside of the home.

The Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and Conflict Management Team responded to the scene.  The suspect was eventually persuaded to surrender after a two hour stand-off. There were no injuries.

Dennell D. Harrison, 41, of Smyrna, was taken into custody without incident by the Delaware State Police Special Operations Response Team and transported to Troop 3 where he will be charged with Resisting Arrest. He is also wanted out of Superior Court for Failure to Register as a Sex Offender, Kent County Court of Common Pleas for two counts of Resisting Arrest, two counts of Offensive Touching, Theft, and Burglary 2nd Degree. Bond information is not available at this time.

Troopers evacuated several residences in the area of the incident as a precaution. Crestwood Drive from Primrose Court was closed for approximately two hours while investigators were on scene.
