FREDERICA – Delaware State Police detectives have arrested a 20 year old Harrington man following a stabbing incident that occurred last night.

According to Public Information Officer Master Corporal Jeffrey Hale, the incident began on Friday, April 17, 2015, at about 8:15 p.m., as a 34-year-old Milford man was at a home in the 4500 block of Andrews Lake Road, Frederica.

The Milford man was in the home’s driveway when he was confronted by a 20-year-old Harrington man, later identified as Dennis Young.

The two men then became involved in a verbal altercation at which time Mr. Young allegedly produced a knife and proceeded to stab the victim in the abdomen, police said.

Mr. Young then fled on foot in an unknown direction.

The male victim was removed from the scene by Emergency Medical Services and transported to the Kent General Hospital where he was treated for his injury.

Responding troopers, with the assistance of Delaware State Police Aviation, Trooper 2, searched the area for Dennis Young, however, were unable to locate him.

At about 11 p.m. troopers found Mr. Young walking in the area of the 3600 block of Bay Road, Milford, and took him into custody without incident.

Dennis Young was arrested and transported to Troop 3, Camden, where he was charged with second degree assault and possession of a deadly weapon during the commission of a felony.

Mr. Young was also found to have an active warrant issued by the Delaware State Police Sex Offender Apprehension and Registration Unit (S.O.A.R.) for failure to re-register as a sex offender.

Mr. Young was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 7 and committed to the James T. Vaughn Correctional Center for lack of $7,500 secured bond.
