Harrington City Council Candidate Marquis wants to serve

By Eric Marquis

Candidate, City Council District 4

Fellow Citizens of Harrington,

Tuesday, May 5th is an important day for Harrington. City Council elections will take place, and I would like to introduce myself to my fellow citizens. My name is Eric Marquis and my family and I have been residents of Harrington for 12 years. We enjoy the small town feel of this city and cherish the relationships we have made here. We are involved in many social, religious, and school district activities such as the Lake Forest High School Marching Band, Calvary Wesleyan Church, Harrington Parks and Rec Soccer program and in the past Harrington Little League. As much as I love this city I feel changes need to be made and the time is right for a fresh approach which will move our city forward. I have outlined several things below which I will do if given the honor to represent you.

When elected:

· I will bring a common sense approach back to our city government. Using common sense, I will ensure our tax and utility money is used in a responsible manner. I will not vote in favor of spending tax payer money on “Wants” but only on “Needs”. I will research options to ensure the city is getting the best price for purchases and question any that can be perceived as frivolous.

· I will bring integrity back to our district council seat by placing your interests above my own.

· I will support a more business-friendly atmosphere within our city, which will encourage job growth. I plan to streamline the current permit process and look to lower fees associated with doing business in the city.

· I will work hand in hand with our great police department to ensure they have the tools they need to keep our city a safe place to live and work.

· I will bring honesty, transparency, accessibility, and accountability back to this position for the benefit of all citizens.

We live in a great community and I want to be a part of making it even better. I hope to earn your vote on May 5th, and the privilege of working for you. Please show your support on Facebook at “Eric Marquis for Harrington City Council” and on Election Day, Tuesday, May 5th, from 12:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Price Community Center, 103 Dorman Street. If you have any questions please call me at 302-331-4054.

Thank you.
