Harrington Parks & Recreation news: Registration for spring sports begins

PROGRAM REGISTRATIONS: Registrations can be mailed or dropped off at the Harrington Parks & Recreation building during regular business hours, Monday through Thursday 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. The drop box may also be used to register any evening the Harrington Parks & Recreation is open from 5:30-7 p.m.

Soccer

Registration for SPRING soccer will begin on Jan. 4 and continue through Feb. 26.

We offer tot soccer (ages 2 & 3) through the U12 age division.Registrations can be dropped off at the office or parents can print a registration form from the Website and mail it in with payment.

Cost: $65 for first player in family, $55 for second player in family, $45 for each additional player in family; tot soccer is $40 No requests will be taken for the U10 & U12 divisions in order to try and maintain fair and equal play. Any requests in the younger age divisions are on a first come first serve basis. Please note requests are not a guarantee.

Cheernastics

Registrations will be accepted from Jan. 4 until March 31 or classes fill, whichever comes first.

This program is for children ages 6 to 15 years old and is limited to the first 30 registered participants per class. These classes focus on the instruction of different types of jumps and tumbles of cheer as well as safety and motions of cheer and dance. Cheernastics will also cover techniques with stunting, basing and flying.

The cost is $75.00.

Basic Tumbling & Gymnastics 

Registrations for basic tumbling and gymnastics will be from Jan. 4 through March 31 or classes fill, whichever comes first.

This program is for children ages 4 to 9 years old and is limited to the first 30 registered participants. Classes begin in April and end in June. Classes will teach the proper techniques in tumbling, jumps, and motions.

The cost is $60 and all classes will be held at the Harrington Parks & Recreation building.

Youth Indoor Field Hockey

Registrations are being accepted for youth indoor field hockey.

This is an instructional program for grades k through 5 to be held at the recreation center during the month of February. Classes will be held on Wednesdays with exact schedule to be determined based on registrations.

Cost: $75 w/equipment; $50 registration only. You can mail your registration or drop it off at HPR during our regular business hours.

Dance

A new teen/adult Beginner Ballet class will begin in January. The class will be on Thursdays from 6:45 to 7:30pm. Call HPR for more information.

Ladies Fit Class

This class will begin on Saturday, Jan. 16 and run through March 12 at HPR from 9:45-10:30 a.m. for 8 weeks. (NO CLASS ON FEB. 27).

Each class is $5.00 or you can pay $35 up front and get 1 week free.

Golf Tournament

Come and join us for our annual Golf Tournament on Friday, May 20. The deadline for entry is May 13.

We have started taking registrations for foursomes for that day.   Registration is limited to the first 25 teams.

The tournament will be held at Jonathan’s Landing Golf Course in Magnolia, DE. The cost is $300.00 per foursome, ($80.00 for an individual). The fee includes golf, cart, open range and luncheon. Adult Fitness

The Harrington Parks & Recreation Center will be open for any adult wishing to get out of the elements and walk. Treadmills, nautilus, elliptical, stair steppers and exercise bikes are available for use.

Adults will be able to use the center Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and on Friday from 8 a.m. to noon. All participants must be 18-years-old or older, sign a registration form and provide valid ID before using fitness room or gym.

Registration is $50.00 individual or $75.00 a couple.   If you have any questions please call our office at 398-7975.

Items for pets can be donated in the collection box at the Recreation Center.
