Lake girls not hosting but staying close to home in tourney opener

STATEWIDE – The Lake Forest girls’ basketball team didn’t earn a home game in the upcoming state tournament, but the Spartans won’t have to travel far from Felton in either of the first two rounds.

As the tournament’s No. 21 seed, Lake (13-7) will open the postseason at No. 12 Dover (9-10) Tuesday night. A win there would advance the Spartans to a Thursday bout at St. Thomas More (16-2), which earned a first round bye as the fifth seed.

First and second round games are scheduled to begin at 7 p.m.
