Roundup: Lake baseball, softball fall to CR


Tim Haugh’s three-run double in the bottom of the seventh inning lifted Caesar Rodney High to a walk-off 5-4 victory over Lake Forest in Henlopen Conference baseball on Thursday afternoon.

CR (4-1 in conference, 4-3 overall) trailed 4-0 after the third inning. Haugh, Levi Kapp and Quentin Ivy all had two hits with Brennen Brown adding the Riders’ other hit and driving in a run.

Reliever Charlie Entenman gave up only two hits in five innings to earn the win.

Logan Simpson drove in three of the Spartans’ four runs, hitting a two-run home run in the third. Tyler Collins doubled for Lake, which lost for the second time in as many days.


Caesar Rodney 9, Lake Forest 2: The Riders scored three runs in both the second and third innings en route to the Henlopen Conference win.

Janaya Harris had a pair of doubles for CR with pitcher Alyssa Ball earning the victory.

Lake’s Katherine Betts had a double, triple and home run. For the Lady Spartans, it was their second consecutive loss after a 4-0 start to the season.


Lake Forest 15, Indian River 14: Austin Aguilar (1 assist) scored five goals as the Spartans edged the Indians.

Benjamin Moore (3 assists) and Carter Kenton (2 assists) both added three goals while David Gustafsson scored twice. Ryan Sipple and Parker Sard added Lake’s other goals.
