HARRINGTON – Nearly three months after making its professional Mixed Martial Arts debut, Stellar Fights turns in its second professional MMA card at Stellar Fights 34 in front of a packed house at the Exhibition Hall at the Delaware State Fairgrounds.
Stellar Fights 34 featured nine amateur bouts, three of which were championship fights, and five professional fights.
Amateur fights
- Brian Lajoie defeats Roe-Mar Blacknall
In the night’s opening fight, Brian Lajoie, representing Infinity MMA, defeats Roe-Mar Blacknall by unanimous decision.
- Doug Addison defeats Brad Bennett
Top Flight MMA’s Doug Addison improves his record to 3-1 with a second round TKO over Brad Bennett.
- William Mondragon defeats Brandon Cobak
In the amateur welterweight bout, Mondragon took all three rounds to defeats Cobak by split decision in a close fight.
- Joe Huggins defeats Frank McManus
Huggins stayed undefeated (3-0) with a third-round TKO over McManus in the night’s first amateur featherweight.
- John Amos defeats Shane Teves
Amos defeats Teves, picking up his first MMA, by TKO in the second round.
- Branden Hudson defeats Eric Maule
SBY Fitness and MMA’s Branden Hudson defeats Eric Maule, giving Maule his first loss, with a second-round TKO.
- Amateur lightweight championship bout: Melvin Giron defeats Brent Douglass
Giron becomes the new Stellar Fights amateur lightweight champion with a fourth-round armbar submission over Brent Douglass.
- Amateur welterweight championship: Lenny Rufati defeats Andrew Johnson
Rufati makes a comeback, becoming the new Stellar Fights amateur welterweight champion, with a fifth-round TKO over Andrew Johnson. The win improves Rufati to 5-0.
- Amateur bantamweight championship: Eddie Doud defeats Turpal Khamzayev
In the amateur bantamweight championship, the third and final title fight of the night, Eddie Doud becomes the new champion with a second-round submission over Turpal Khamzayev.
Professional fights
- Craig Hayes defeats Steven Covington
Hayes picked up his first professional MMA victory with a unanimous decision over Steven Covington.
- Karl Reed defeats Charles Gamble
In the professional light heavyweight bout, Reed defeats Gamble by unanimous decision.
- Latra Collick defeats Jamal Johnson
Collick takes just three of the five rounds to defeat Johnson by third-round submission. Collick’s professional record improves to 2-0.
- Francisco Isata defeats Ahsan Abdullah
In one of the more controversial fights of the night, Isata defeats Abdullah by TKO early in the fight.
The fight was stopped for about 10-15 minutes before a decision was made, as judges decided whether or not Francisco Isata’s knockout blow was due to an eye poke (which would have resulted in a “no contest”). After brief deliberation, it was decided there was no eye poke and Isata was awarded the victory.
- Mike Otwell defeats Chris Rollins
The event’s main event went all five rounds, with Otwell coming out on top in the end with a win by unanimous decision over Rollins. Otwell’s professional record is 4-1.
